The story with the most credibility is the one that, the Piña Colada was introduced in August 1954 at a famous bar in Havana, Cuba by its alleged creator, Santiago Lemes Rocha “Rochi”.
Apparently, the bar owner had expressly requested a classic mix but something new. So he took this opportunity to mix with Rum, the traditional Cuban spirit. Rochi accepted the challenge, and everyone being in the bar loved the drink, the first Piña Colada was born.
